Dylan O'Brien Is A Cold-Blooded Killer In New American Assassin Trailer
Michael Keaton needs Dylan O'Brien to save the world in the new trailer for American Assassin. The movie, based on the best-selling book Consent to Kill by Vince Flynn, follows O'Brien as Mitch Rapp, a man who becomes hellbent on revenge after his girlfriend dies in a terrorist attack.
The trailer begins with O'Brien's Mitch asleep in bed, having a nightmare about the day on the beach when his girlfriend was killed. "That day on the beach, it changed you," a voiceover says, as Mitch is shown loading up a sniper rifle. "You want revenge." The trailer then quickly shows MItch's plan to take out the terrorists, which led to him being caught by the CIA, who recruit him for their assassin training program.
The program is led by Michael Keaton's Stan, an expert warrior who trains Mitch using old and new school technologies. Mitch quickly takes to the training program, testing through the roof on speed and focus. "I've seen off the charts before," Stan says. "Not like this," Sanaa Lathan's CIA director replies.
Despite Stan's lack of trust in Mitch, the young assassin will be called up after the mysterious Ghost (Taylor Kitsch) resurfaces. Ghost, as it turns out, is one of Stan's former students, and he seems to have a personal grudge against his former mentor. Mitch has just 48 hours to stop Mitch from setting off a nuclear bomb in the action-packed thriller.
Michael Cuesta (Homeland) directs American Assassin based off a script from Stephen Schiff (The Americans), Michael Finch (Hitman: Agent 47), Edward Zwick (Shakespeare in Love), and Marshall Herskovitz (Traffic). The movie is set for a Sept. 15 release; while we wait, see some of the other movies you have to look forward to in the coming months.
