Annabelle: Creation Trailer Reveals Origin Story
Murderous vintage dolls don't just come out of nowhere, you know.
There's a new trailer for Annabelle: Creation, the upcoming prequel to the first spinoff of The Conjuring, and it tells us exactly how the demonic doll came to be.
Set during the early 20th century, the story centers on a dollmaker father (Anthony LaPaglia) and mother (Miranda Otto) who struggle to cope with the loss of their young daughter. After praying to see her again, the girl begins to contact them from the beyond, and asks permission for her soul to move into an already creepy-looking doll. Soon after, it doesn't take long for the parents to realize that it's not really their daughter at all. When the parents decide to make their house into a home for orphaned children, Annabelle becomes jealous, and starts to unleash her anger upon the new residents.
David F. Sandberg (Lights Out) directs while Conjuring head James Wan produces. It's a follow-up to 2014's Annabelle, which kicked off an entire Conjuring universe that will continue with The Nun (set for release in 2018) and The Crooked Man.
Meanwhile, Annabelle: Creation will arrive in theaters on Aug. 11. Until then, check out more horror movies that will blow everyone away this year.
