Spider-Man Explains The Events Of Captain America: Civil War In New Homecoming Video
We now have a new look at the events of Captain America: Civil War. A new clip from the upcoming film Spider-Man: Homecoming shows the events of the superhero team-up film through the eyes of the young Peter Parker, who was recruited by Tony Stark to join the fray on his behalf.
The clip, which will be shown early on in Homecoming, begins with Peter (Tom Holland) sitting in a limo with Tony's driver Happy (Jon Favreau) at the wheel. "New York," Peter says in a deep, gravelly voice, while pointing the camera out the window. "Queens. It's a rough borough, but hey, it's home."
Happy, as it turns out, is driving Peter to Tony's private plane. Peter's questioning about whether he should go to the bathroom before hand is met with a question about whether he has ever been on a private plane before. Peter, as it turns out, has never been on any plane before, and he gets quite freaked out by some of the noises it makes during take-off. Still, though, the pair eventually lands safely in Berlin, where Peter takes touristy trips of the city as he waits to learn what his mission is. "No one has actually told me why I'm in Berlin or what I'm doing," he says. "Something about Captain America going crazy."
Peter and Happy check into a local hotel, where Peter is happy to learn that the two are neighbors, something Happy is less, well, happy about. He tells Peter to suit up but is astounded when he sees the homemade suit Peter has been using throughout his superheroics thus far. This is where Peter gets the new Tony Stark-build, tricked-out suit he's seen wearing throughout Homecoming, with the young hero freaking out after seeing his new threads.
The clip then takes us into the airport fight scene from Civil War, showing Peter hiding out waiting for Tony to call him in. "Okay, so the craziest thing just happened, I got in a fight with Captain America and I stole his shield and I threw it at him," Peter says to the camera during a break in the middle of the fight. However, he is quickly called away when Ant-Man begins to grow bigger. It then moves to the end of the fight, where Peter is excitedly talking about his day to the camera back in his hotel room. However, Happy quickly interrupts, letting him know that the hotel has thin walls.
Next it shows Peter, Tony (Robert Downey Jr.), and Happy on their way back to New York, where Tony decides to help Peter record a short video to help seal his alibi with Aunt May. "Hey May, how are you doing?" Tony says. "What are you wearing? Something skimpy, I hope." Tony quickly deems that inappropriate and they start over, with Tony telling May that Peter did a great job at the Stark internship retreat over the weekend, an alibi that Peter will continue to use throughout Homecoming. The clip ends with Tony informing Peter that he can keep the suit (although he'll have to carry the case up to his seventh floor walk-up.)
Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon, Zendaya, and Donald Glover also star in Homecoming, which is directed by Jon Watts based on a script from Watts, John Francis Daley, Jonathan Goldstein, Christopher Ford, Chris McKenna, and Erik Sommers. The movie is due out July 7; while we wait, see how Holland got in shape to play the big screen hero.
