Zendaya Does A Dramatic Reading Of The Spider-Man Theme Song
Spider-Man is just doing whatever a spider can in a new video from Vanity Fair. The video features Spider-Man: Homecoming star Zendaya doing a dramatic reading of the theme song from the 1960s Spider-Man cartoon, and you will never be able to listen to the song the same way again.
Zendaya takes on the role of Michelle in the upcoming film, although her part has been followed around by quite a few rumors suggesting that she has a deeper connection to one or more classic comic book characters. (She insists that she is just Michelle.) While you'll have to wait until you see the movie to learn Michelle's full story, Zendaya quickly proved her acting skills in the video, in which she hilariously delivered a reading of the whole theme song without breaking out into laughter even once.
Zendaya's reading isn't the only connection that the classic song will have to Homecoming– in fact, a version of the theme will actually appear in the final film. Composer Michael Giacchino teased his orchestral version of the theme song, which will open the film's soundtrack, way back in May, bringing in what looks to be dozens of musicians to record an epic updated version of the catchy tune.
Tom Holland will play the titular webslinger in Homecoming, which will feature Peter making a bid to Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) to give him a permanent place in the Avengers following the events of Captain America: Civil War. The hero also has to deal with high school, crushes, and a terrifying big bad in Michael Keaton's Vulture, all of which will keep him busy throughout the well-reviewed adventure.
Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Jacob Batalon, and Donald Glover also star in Homecoming, which is directed by Jon Watts based on a script from Watts, John Francis Daley, Jonathan Goldstein, Christopher Ford, Chris McKenna, and Erik Sommers. The movie is due out July 7; while we wait, see Zendaya, Holland, and some of the other stars who will blow you away this year.
