The Dark Tower International Trailer Brings The War To Earth
There's a new trailer for the big screen adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower, and it reminds us that the stakes for our world are very real.
While the first trailer revealed much of the backstory, the new international trailer gives us a better look at Idris Elba as the enigmatic last Gunslinger named Roland Deschain and Matthew McConaughey as the villainous Man in Black who is hellbent on destruction. Roland is joined by a kid from Earth (Tom Taylor), who learns that he's in the middle of everything, whether he likes it or not.
In King's critically acclaimed book series (and in the movie), there's a tower in End-World that holds the universe together. If you destroy that tower (which is what the Man in Black really wants to do), you unleash unholy fury on Earth.
Although Sony hopes the movie will launch a franchise, there's been some cause for concern. The studio pushed the release date back to tune the special effects, but the new trailer seems to indicate that everything is on track. Considering that the movie drops in less than a month, Sony might need to kick the marketing into overdrive.
The Dark Tower arrives in theaters Aug. 4. In the meantime, check out the movie's untold truth.
