Riverdale Season 2 Casts True Blood Actress Brit Morgan
Warning: This post contains mild spoilers for season one of Riverdale.
Step aside, Veronica Lodge. There's a new girl in town.
Actress Brit Morgan, who played werewolf Debbie Pelt on the hit HBO series True Blood, has been cast in the second season of Riverdale. Deadline announces that Morgan's role in the CW sensation will be recurring, and based on the character she's portraying, fans will likely savor each moment she's on screen.
Morgan is set to play Penny Peabody, otherwise known as the "Snake Charmer" due to her connections with Riverdale's resident ne'er-do-wells, the Southside Serpents. The outlet describes Penny as a "wily backroom attorney" whom the Serpents "keep on retainer" in case they brush shoulders with a sheriff who suspects they're up to trouble, or if they're caught red-handed in a sticky situation.
Possibly a less-than-ethical lawyer, given her relationship with the band of bad guys, Penny skips cash payment and instead asks her clients to pay her back in favors. This could spell trouble for the fan-favorite character Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), the brooding loner who appears to have turned to the dark side at the end of the first season, as he approaches Penny for help with his father, longtime Southside Serpent F.P. Jones (Skeet Ulrich).
Morgan will star alongside KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy, Marisol Nichols as Hermione Lodge, Madchen Amick as Alice Cooper, Luke Perry as Fred Andrews, and Casey Cott as Kevin Keller. Nine Lives actor Mark Consuelos joins Morgan as a fresh addition to Riverdale. A few months ago, it was announced that Consuelos was cast as Hiram Lodge, Veronica's father who was recently released from prison.
Morgan's most recent television appearance was as Livewire on another CW show, Supergirl.
Riverdale season 2 doesn't yet have a set release date, so while we wait to learn more, find out how the cast of the show should really look.
