New Blade Runner 2049 Trailer Released
Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford are being hunted in an intense new trailer for their upcoming sci-fi film Blade Runner 2049. The movie will take place 30 years after the events of Ridley Scott's original film, introducing a new blade runner in Gosling's Officer K.
The trailer begins with Officer K looking for Ford's Rick Deckard, who has been missing since the events of the first film. His violent search puts him at odds with others around him, but it is eventually successful. Deckard tells Officer K that he scrambled the records and covered his tracks because he was being hunted. K inquires about who is hunting him, but is quickly interrupted by an attack by an unknown party.
The rest of the trailer focuses on the film's supporting characters, including Jared Leto's Neander Wallace, who tells Deckard that he doesn't know what pain is yet, but he will learn. "Every leap of civilization was built off the back of slaves," he says. "Replicants are the future, but I can only make so many. I had the lock and he has the key."
Here is the full synopsis for the film: Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. K's discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
Denis Villeneuve (Arrival) steps behind the camera for the upcoming sequel, which is based on a script from the original film's Hampton Fancher and Murder on the Orient Express' Michael Green. Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, David Dastmalchian, Mackenzie Davis, Jared Leto, Edward James Olmos, Carla Juri, and Barkhad Abdi also star.
Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters on Oct. 6, 2017. While we wait for the future of the species to finally be unearthed, see why the movie will be better than you think.
