James Franco Says 'Oh Hi, Mark' In The Disaster Artist Trailer
James Franco is making the worst movie ever made in the first trailer for The Disaster Artist. In the film, Franco plays Tommy Wiseau, the writer, director, and star of the critically maligned cult hit The Room. The movie, based on Room co-star Greg Sestero's memoir of the same name, follows the making of the film.
The first glimpse goes through the making of one of the film's most famous scenes, resulting in Franco uttering one of Wiseau's most quoted lines: "Oh hi, Mark." As the trailer shows, it took Wiseau quite a few takes to get that line, or any of his lines, correct, with the actor repeatedly coming into frame asking for his line. After over 67 takes, he finally gets the line correctly, resulting in cheers from the assembled crowd.
The Disaster Artist premiered to rave reviews at recent film festivals, with many praising Franco's performance in the film, which he also directed. He will star opposite his real-life brother Dave as Greg, with Seth Rogen playing the film's script supervisor and Josh Hutcherson, Ari Graynor, Zac Efron, Andrew Santino, Nathan Fielder, and June Diane Raphael taking on the parts of other actors in the film.
The movie, which also features Alison Brie, Hannibal Buress, Casey Wilson, Jerrod Carmichael, Judd Apatow, Christopher Minz-Plasse, Zach Braff, and Bryan Cranston, is set for a Dec. 1 release. The movie is based off a script from Scott Eric Neustadter and Michael H. Weber (The Fault in Our Stars). While we wait to learn more about how the cult classic was made, see some other movies which, like The Room, featured hilariously overacted moments.
