Pamela Adlon Joins Transformers Spin-Off Bumblebee
A recent Emmy nominee is joining the Transformers spin-off Bumblebee. Deadline reports that Better Things star Pamela Adlon is in negotiations to join the cast of the film as the mother of Hailee Steinfeld's character, a tomboy who works part-time as a mechanic.
Plot details for Bumblebee are being kept under wraps, although rumors say that the film will be set in the '80s and that it will follow Steinfeld and a group of her friends as they team up with the fan favorite character from the original film series. The film will mark the first spin-off of the Transformers franchise, although Paramount has quite a few more planned for the future.
Adlon is still basking in the glory of her unexpected Emmy nominee for her FX series; the actress already was a winner of the television award for her voice-over work on King of the Hill. She is also known for Californication, Louie, Recess, Grease 2, Quack Pack, Bob's Burgers, TripTank, The Animatrix, Say Anything..., and The Facts of Life.
Other cast members for the film include Rachel Crow, Jason Drucker, Abby Quinn, Ricardo Hoyos, and Grace Dzienny. Kubo and the Two Strings director Travis Knight will take on behind-the-camera duties, with the script coming from Shut In's Christina Hodson, who wrote it during her time in Michael Bay and Paramount's Transformers writer's room.
Bumblebee currently holds a June 8, 2018 release date. For now, read up on some of the most terrible things the Transformers have ever done.
