New Thor: Ragnarok Trailer Released

The first full trailer for Thor: Ragnarok is here. The trailer, released at San Diego Comic-Con, capitalizes on the rock and roll vibe given off in the film's teaser trailer to introduce a wild intergalactic ride for the superhero's third solo outing.

"So much has happened since I last saw you," Thor (Chris Hemsworth) begins at the start of the trailer, as images of Hela's (Cate Blanchett) takeover of Asgard flash by. "I lost my hammer, like yesterday, so thats still pretty fresh. And then I went on a journey of self discovery, where I met you."

The trailer then moves quickly through images of quite a few different settings, as Thor begins to recap the recent events to Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). This includes a not-so-accurate retelling of the fight the two are forced to have on Sakaar, the desolate planet where Thor's hair is shorn and where he is forced to become a gladiator by the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum). (Goldblum's character was revealed at SDCC to be the brother of Benicio Del Toro's The Collector, of Guardians of the Galaxy fame.)

Hela will provide a more than worthy opponent for Thor, with the goddess of death taking over Asgard so that she can remake it in her image. "We need to stop her here and now to prevent Ragnarok, the end of everything," Thor says. This mission prompts him to put together a team, also featuring Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who all gather together to participate in an epic, action-heavy montage of the film's wonderfully shot fight scenes.

While the new trailer unfortunately loses the epic Led Zeppelin backing of the teaser trailer, we are definitely excited to see Thor: Ragnarok after watching the insane footage. The film, directed by Taika Waititi based on a script from Eric Pearson, is due out on Nov. 3; for now, see why the finished product will blow you away.
