Ruth Negga Joins Brad Pitt In Sci-Fi Pic Ad Astra

Preacher star Ruth Negga has joined Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones in the upcoming sci-fi flick Ad Astra, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie comes from The Lost City of Z's James Gray.

Ad Astra, which is based on a screenplay Gray co-wrote with Ethan Gross (Fringe), follows Pitt as a slightly autistic engineer who goes on a journey across a long and unforgiving solar system to find his missing father (Jones), a renegade scientist who disappeared on a mission to find alien life on Neptune and who now poses a threat to all mankind. There is no word on who Negga will play.

Negga has already worked with Pitt, appearing in his action flick World War Z. The actress recently earned an Oscar and Golden Globe nomination for her role in the drama Loving. Her other film work includes Warcraft: The Beginning, The Samaritan, Shirley, Isolation, and Iona. Her TV work, meanwhile, includes Misfits, Secret State, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Pitt and Gray will produce Ad Astra alongside Rodrigo Teixeira (Frances Ha), Anthony Katagas (12 Years A Slave), Dede Gardner (Moonlight), and Jeremy Kleiner (Kick-Ass). Marc Butan (The Road), Lourenco Sant'Anna (Mistress America), Sophie Mas (Call Me By Your Name), Yu Dong (Red Cliff), Jeffrey Chan, Anthony Mosawi (Make It Happen), and Paul Conway will executive produce.

Ad Astra doesn't have a release date yet, but with a number of huge stars attached, fans are definitely eagerly awaiting for the movie to get off the ground. While we wait to see what intergalactic heights the film will reach, see some of the movies you have to look forward to next year.
