Hailee Steinfeld Shares First Look At Her Transformers Spin-Off Character

Hailee Steinfeld will be rocking out as the lead in the upcoming Transformers spin-off Bumblebee. The actress shared the first look at her character on her Twitter page, showing her sitting in front of her trailer in ripped jeans and a Motorhead T-shirt. "Meet Charlie Watson," she captioned the pic.

Charlie is described as a tomboy who works part time as a mechanic in the '80s set flick, so Steinfeld's outfit fits well. The movie will see a battle-scarred version of the fan-favorite Bumblebee stuck in a junkyard in a small California beach town. It's there that he meets Charlie, who is about to turn 18 and is still trying to find her place in the world. When Charlie brings Bumblebee back to life, she quickly realizes that he is more than an ordinary yellow VW bug.

Pamela Adlon is set to play the mother of Steinfeld's character, while John Cena, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Rachel Crow, Jason Drucker, Abby Quinn, Ricardo Hoyos, and Grace Dzieny fill out the rest of the cast. Kubo and the Two Strings director Travis Knight will take on behind-the-camera duties for Bumblebee, with the script coming from Shut In's Christina Hodson, who wrote it during her time in Michael Bay and Paramount's Transformers writer's room.

The movie, the first of many spin-offs that Paramount has planned for the franchise, was initially set to hit theaters in June of 2018 but was recently moved back to a Dec. 21, 2018 release date, where it will compete with Aquaman for box office glory. While we wait to learn more about the movie, see some of the most terrible things the Transformers have ever done.
