Clowns, Bees, And Balloons Feature In New American Horror Story: Cult Preview

American Horror Story: Cult is set to feature Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, and, apparently, a whole lot of clowns. The newest teaser for the upcoming season of the anthology series stars a creepy clown blowing up and subsequently popping a balloon filled with bees, all in a very unsettling 15 seconds.

The newest teaser doesn't offer much of a hint about what will go down in the upcoming season, which will use the 2016 presidential election as an "allegory" for the season, beginning on election night with televised clips of Trump and Clinton. "It is about the election we just went through and what happened on that night and the fallout of that night, which to many people, from all sides of the camps is a horror story," creator Ryan Murphy previously said. "And you know, that show is always so fun when it's about the zeitgeist and what we're doing now."

Sarah Paulson is set to star in the newest season as Ally, and her character could be involved in a love triangle with Alison Pill's Ivy, who is Ally's wife, and Evan Peters' Kai, who has a "love story for the ages" with Ally. Other new cast members include former Scream Queens star Billie Lourd as the grey-haired Winter Anderson, Teen Wolf's Colton Haynes as the dapper Detective Samuels, and Billy on the Street's Billy Eichner as Harrison Wilton.

Leslie Grossman and Lena Dunham fill out the new cast, while returning cast members include Emma Roberts, Cheyenne Jackson, Frances Conroy, Mare Winningham, and Adina Porter. Kathy Bates, who has been with the series since 2013, will sit this season out due to her commitment to her upcoming Netflix comedy series Disjointed.

AHS: Cult premieres on Sept. 5, so it won't be long before Murphy's wild vision for the election-themed season becomes clear. For now, see some of the Easter eggs that tie the show's past seasons together.
