Ben Affleck Says Justice League Has A More 'Traditional' Batman
Justice League will feature a version of Batman that isn't quite as polarizing as the one we saw in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Ben Affleck told Entertainment Weekly that the upcoming DC ensemble will see Batman return to the character's classic roots, as opposed to being so conflicted and temperamental. "This is more in keeping with the canon of how Batman's usually been portrayed, and how he's portrayed vis a vis the Justice League in the comics," he said. "This is more the Batman you would find if you opened up your average Batman comic book."
That's not to say that Batman will be boring. He'll just clearly be a hero. "BvS departed a little bit from the traditional Batman," Affleck said. "He started out with all this rage directed at Superman, because of his coworkers who had died in the fight Superman had with Zod. He was holding on to a lot of anger, in a little bit of an irrational way... Whereas this is a much more traditional Batman. He's heroic. He does things in his own way, but he wants to save people, help people."
That also means that he'll need to try be a team player with other superheroes (Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ezra Miller as the Flash, Ray Miller as Cyborg, and possibly Henry Cavill as a resurrected Superman) instead of being a loner. "He's put in this position of having to reach out, find other people, convincing them to do something," Affleck said. "Part of the drama of the movie is the question of whether or not the team is going to come together. It's very different from the tenor of the last movie."
We'll find out for sure when Justice League hits theaters on Nov. 17. In the meantime, find out why the movie will be better than you think.
