Doctor Strange Appears In Thor: Ragnarok Japanese Trailer
Remember when two mega Marvel men met up and discussed the fate of the world as they know it?
Admittedly, that happens quite frequently in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But this time, the interaction is between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), as the latter hero makes a cameo appearance in the Japanese trailer for Thor: Ragnarok.
"Thor, I sense a great change in your future," Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange says in the clip. "Destiny has dire plans for you my friend." Ever the headstrong sort-of optimist, Hemsworth's Thor responds in a manner expected of an Asgardian god. "I have dire plans for destiny," he says.
The clip goes on to reflect a handful of moments previously seen in the footage Marvel Studios film unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con in July, giving us looks at Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie, Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Incredible Hulk, and Cate Blanchett's Hela, among many others.
Of course, this international trailer isn't the first time Doctor Strange and Thor have brushed shoulders. In last year's Doctor Strange, directed by Scott Derrickson, fans were treated to a post-credits scene that showed Thor visiting Strange in his Sanctum Sanctorum. There, Thor admits that he needs help finding his father, and guzzles down beer Strange served him in a glass that would magically refill. In that scene, Thor is wearing the exact same clothes as seen in the Thor: Ragnarok trailer, possibly indicating that not much time has passed between Doctor Strange and the forthcoming flick.
Directed by Hunt for the Wilderpeople helmer Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok also stars Tom Hiddleston as Loki, the adopted brother of Thor, also pops up, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, and Anthony Hopkins as Odin. Here's the official synopsis for the upcoming film: "Imprisoned, the mighty Thor finds himself in a lethal gladiatorial contest against the Hulk, his former ally. Thor must fight for survival and race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela from destroying his home and the Asgardian civilization."
Thor: Ragnarok is set for release on November 3. In the meantime, find out why the film will blow everyone away once it finally hits theaters.
