Liam Neeson Stars In Trailer For Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down The White House

Sometimes, to save a country, you've got to spill some secrets.

In the first trailer for Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down the White House, Liam Neeson stars as the American FBI agent who leaked crucial information to the press during the Watergate scandal, ultimately leading to an escalation of the investigation and the resignation of President Richard Nixon.

For decades, the identity of the source, referred to in the press as Deep Throat, remained a secret, with many speculating it was not one person, but a group of people, a made-up conglomeration of many real sources. It was not until 2005, at the age of 91, that Felt revealed that he was the secret tipster who brought down the Nixon White House.

The trailer comes with timing that may feel suspicious, considering the current climate in the US regarding FBI investigations into the presidency and high-profile press leaks, but development on the Mark Felt movie has actually been going on since 2006, shortly after Felt made his big reveal. It probably shouldn't seem any more timely now than it would at any other point—truth and the free press are fundamental aspects of democracies no matter where or when you are, and Felt's story is a testament to that fact.

"Fidelity, integrity, bravery—ladies and gentlemen, the G-Man's G-Man," says Tom Sizemore's FBI agent in this trailer, introducing Felt, the ultimate man on the inside.

Released by Sony Pictures, Mark Felt also stars a knockout cast including Diane Lane, Tony Goldwyn, Josh Lucas, Michael C. Hall, Maika Monroe, Kate Walsh, and Tom Sizemore. It will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival prior to a wide release on September 29.
