Hostiles Teaser Trailer Stars Christian Bale As A Grizzled Soldier
Christian Bale plays another tortured warrior in the upcoming Hostiles, but this one is rooted in America's past instead of the pages of DC Comics.
Deadline has the first teaser for the movie from director Scott Cooper, who previously worked with Bale on the underrated 2013 flick Out of the Furnace, and the Western was the talk of the Telluride Film Festival.
Set in 1892, Bale plays an Army captain who is assigned to transport an old Native American enemy (Wes Studi) back to his tribal home. During his trip, he runs into Rosalie Quaid (Rosamund Pike), a suicidal widow who saw her family murdered by Comanche Indians. According to Deadline, the movie is akin to the classic 1956 John Ford film The Searchers, which starred John Wayne.
The search is on for a distributor to release the film in time for awards season, and Bale is generating a lot of buzz for his performance. We'll keep you posted as more details emerge.
Meanwhile, Bale is also set to play former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney in a movie from his The Big Short director Adam McKay.
