Anya Taylor-Joy And Olivia Cooke Plan A Murder In Thoroughbreds Trailer
Anya Taylor-Joy and Olivia Cooke are cold-blooded killers in the teaser trailer for their upcoming dark comedy Thoroughbreds. The film stars the two young actresses as childhood friends who reconnect in suburban Connecticut– and decide to plan a murder in the process.
In the film, Taylor-Joy plays Lily, a polished, upper-class teenager who seems to be living the perfect life– she attends a fancy boarding school and she recently landed a coveted internship. Her life begins to change when she catches back up with her old friend Amanda (Cooke), who, after killing a horse, became a social outcast with a sharp wit and her own attitude.
The pair end up bonding over Lily's hatred for her stepfather Mark (Paul Sparks), and they eventually decide that they want to kill him. To do this, they need to approach Anton Yelchin's Tim, a local drug dealer and registered sex offender who they want to help them with their bad deeds. The clip of their pair approaching Tim takes up most of the NSFW teaser trailer, with Lily and Amanda pressing him to give them a gun– or multiple guns.
From there, the trailer shows off the furthering of the two's murderous plan, intercutting it with the positive reviews that the movie got when it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Playwright Cory Finley wrote and directed the film, which also stars Francie Swift and Kaili Vernoff. The movie hits theaters on March 9, 2018.
