Giovanni Ribisi Returning For All Four Avatar Sequels

The human cast of the Avatar sequels is filling up.

Deadline reports that Giovanni Ribisi has signed on for all four of James Cameron's planned sequels to the 2009 blockbuster. He'll be back as Parker Selfridge, the head administrator of the Resources Development Administration.

Production on the sequels, which will be shot back-to-back, kicked off last month. It's believed to be the most expensive shoot of its kind, costing 20th Century Fox a reported $1 billion. Of course, it'll probably be worth it. The original Avatar still holds the record for the highest-grossing movie of all time with a staggering $2.79 billion at the global box office.

Ribisi will join returning co-stars Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Zoe Saldana as Neytiri, Sigourney Weaver as Dr. Grace Augustine, and Stephen Lang as Col. Miles Quaritch. Kate Winslet has also joined the cast as a character named Ronal and seven young actors will play the "future generation" of Pandora.

Avatar 2 is slated for release Dec. 18, 2020. The third installment will follow on Dec. 17, 2021, followed by the fourth on Dec. 20, 2024, and fifth on Dec. 19, 2025.
