Black Panther Gets Stunning New Trailer
Prepare yourself: the first full trailer for Black Panther is here. People have been speculating about the release of a new trailer for a while now, but Marvel decided to surprise everyone by dropping the trailer, along with a beautiful new poster which you can view at the bottom of this article, early Monday morning.
The trailer keeps up with the epic vibe introduced in the teaser, beginning with images of Wakanda accompanied by a voiceover from Martin Freeman's Everett K. Ross. "I have seen gods fly," he says to Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa. "I have seen men build weapons that i couldn't even imagine. I've seen aliens drop from the sky. But I have never seen anything like this. How much more are you hiding?"
We don't get to learn the answer to that question yet, but we do get to travel more into T'Challa's technologically advanced, hidden homeland in this trailer. The trailer hints at advances in T'Challa's suit far beyond just what we saw in Captain America: Civil War, while also teasing some gorgeous action sequences, including the car chase that many saw filming in South Korea earlier this year.
The trailer also gives a bit more of a tease to Michael B. Jordan's Erik Killmonger, a dissident who will threaten T'Challa's rule. "I waited my entire life for this," he says ominously. "The world is going to start over. I'm gonna burn it all." T'Challa definitely seems to recognize the gravity of his situation, saying, "What happens now determines what happens to the rest of the world."
The rest of the cast includes Letitia Wright as T'Challa's tech genius sister Shuri; Lupita Nyong'o as Nakia, a Wakandan spy and member of T'Challa's personal guard; Angela Bassett as T'Challa's regal mother and advisor Ramonda; Danai Gurira as Okoye, the head of T'Challa's all-female secret service the Dora Milaje; Forest Whitaker as the shaman Zuri, who provides a father figure for T'Challa; Daniel Kaluuya as T'Challa's best friend W'Kabi; Winston Duke as M'Baku, the leader of a mountain tribe opposing T'Challa's power; and Andy Serkis reprising his role as Ulysses Klaue.
Ryan Coogler directs Black Panther based on a script he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole. The film is due out on Feb. 16, 2018.
