Russell Crowe To Star In True History Of The Kelly Gang
Prepare to see Russell Crowe in a new hat.
Deadline reports the Oscar winner has signed on to star in True History of the Kelly Gang, directed by Justin Kurzel (Assassin's Creed). George MacKay (Captain Fantastic) will also be in the upcoming movie alongside Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Days of Future Past) and Essie Davis (The Babadook).
Based on Peter Carey's Booker prize-winning novel, the story centers on the nototious bushranger Ned Kelly (MacKay), who was one of the greatest outlaws in the Australian badlands during the 1800s.
The cast also includes Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Sean Keenan (Strangerland), Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things), Harry Greenwood (Hacksaw Ridge), Thomasin McKenzie (My Abandonment), and Earl Cave (Born to Kill). Filming for the movie will begin next spring in Victorial Australia.
Crowe, who won an Oscar for his role in 2001's A Beautiful Mind, was recently in Universal's reboot of The Mummy and will star in the drama Boy Erased, directed by Joel Edgerton. Meanwhile, MacKay will appear in Ophelia alongside Daisy Ridley and Naomi Watts.
