Stranger Things Gets The Honest Trailers Treatment

Wherever you are in your binge of Stranger Things 2, you should add this to your daily queue of YouTube videos.

The folks at Honest Trailers have taken on the first season of Stranger Things, and they're definitely fans. While the video points out some of the plot holes (like how nobody in Hawkins seems to notice the top-secret laboratory with hundreds of employees), it's mostly a loving tribute to the Netflix series "that you'd watch at double-speed if it meant you could get it into your brain sooner."

The narrator points out plenty of direct references to films like E.T., Jaws, Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Stand By Me, An American Werewolf in London, and E.T. again, but it's not like the Duffer brothers were ever trying to hide the obvious homages to their influences.

And did you ever realize how much Stranger Things has in common with The Hangover? The video makes a startlingly compelling argument.

Although there's nothing from Stranger Things 2 in there (as to avoid the wrath of the bad men), there are a couple of jabs at questionable choices in the second season. Most notably, there's a sly knock at episode 7 (you know the one), which "completely derails the show's narrative momentum."
