Dwayne Johnson Fights Massive Beasts In First Rampage Trailer
Warner Bros. has just dropped the official trailer for Rampage, the forthcoming Brad Peyton-directed film based on the video game of the same name.
The first look at the film introduces us to the main cast of characters and the basic premise. We meet Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Davis Okoye, a primatologist who has cared for a Silverback gorilla named George for many years, forming with the gentle giant an everlasting bond built on real trust. Their relationship unexpectedly turns sour, however, when Davis notices that George has grown from seven feet tall and 500 pounds in weight to over nine feet and 1,000 pounds overnight. When Davis goes to "speak" with George–communicating with him in sign language–he sees that he has large lacerations on his chest and that he can't control his breathing, sure signs that something is seriously wrong.
"What's happening to my friend?" Davis asks. Dr. Kate Caldwell, played by Oscar-nominated actress Naomie Harris, responds, "Are you familiar with genetic editing? Changes will be unpredictable."
Davis then wonders if George is the only animal that has been made a monster by the rogue genetic experiment. Enter Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Agent Russel, the who works for an organization known as OGA, who quips back, "Oh, you didn't know about the 30-foot wolf?"
Footage then fractures into montages of men running from a massive monster in the forest, a helicopter full of people attempting to evade the aforementioned wolf as it launches in the air, and Davis warning others that putting George on a plane is a "big mistake," as we then see the Silverback break out of his cage and attack the flight crew. It all closes on an intense street battle pitting man versus monster, with Davis crying out to his old friend in a last-ditch effort to save him.

The film also stars Malin Akerman (Watchmen) as Claire Wyden, the nefarious mastermind behind the experiment that created the altered alpha predators; Marley Shelton (Pleasantville) as a scientist and astronaut; and Joe Manganiello (True Blood) as Burke, the leader of a private military group. Rounding out the cast are Jake Lacy, Breanne Hill, P.J. Byrne, Jack Quaid, and Matt Gerald.
Rampage is due out in theaters on April 20, 2018.
