A Wrinkle In Time Gets A Gorgeous New Trailer

The first full trailer for A Wrinkle in Time is here, and it will change the way you see your world.

The film is based on the 1979 novel of the same name by Madeleine L'Engle. The novel follows the young Meg Murry (Storm Reid), who goes on a journey through time and space while searching for her missing father Dr. Alexander Murry (Chris Pine). She is joined on her journey by her precocious younger brother Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe) and her classmate Calvin O'Keefe (Levi Miller).

The trailer begins with a voiceover from the otherworldly being Mrs. Which, played by Oprah Winfrey. "Close your eyes," she says. "See with mine." It then moves into Meg's home life, where she has been struggling at school since the disappearance of her father. However, she still has a good relationship with her mother Dr. Kate Murry (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), who helps to explain her father's time-bending research to Calvin.

"Imagine that the ant here wants to get to her other hand," Kate says, as Meg holds a string with a plastic ant on one side. "Its quickest option is to walk across the string," Meg says. "But it turns out a straight line is not the shortest distance between two points," Kate continues. "Not if you use a fifth dimension." "It's outside of the rules we know of time and space, so the ant arrives on my hand instantaneously," Meg continues. "So you fall into space?" asks Calvin. "More likely wrinkle it," Meg says.

The trailer then goes into the other dimensions, with Mrs. Which saying she brought the trio there because she and her companions Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon) and Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling) "heard a cry out in the universe." "We are in search of warriors," she says. "Warriors who serve the good and the light in the universe," Mrs. Whatsit adds.

Mrs. Which tells Meg that her father is trapped by an "evil energy," one that Mrs. Who says is too strong for their light. "The only one who can stop it is you," Mrs. Which says to Meg. "Be a warrior." As those who read the book will know, Meg eventually finds her father, but their troubles don't stop there, with Alex telling her, "Our love is always there, even if you can't see it."

Michael Pena, Zach Galifianakis, Andre Holland, Bellamy Young, Rowan Blanchard, and Will McCormack also star in A Wrinkle in Time, which was directed by Ava DuVernay based off a script from Jennifer Lee. The movie will hit theaters on March 9, 2018.
