Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Trailer Unleashes The Dinosaurs

It's the moment you've all been waiting for: Universal Pictures has just dropped the first full-length trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

We learn that Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom takes place several years after the events of the 2015 blockbuster, which ended with Isla Nublar, the lush island that housed the massive Jurassic World themepark, in complete disarray. An enormous and unpredictable volcano threatens now to kill the dinosaurs left on the island, but with any luck, the valiant efforts of Chris Pratt's Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard's Claire Dearing will be enough to save Ingens' creations from extinction.

The clip also sees the hotly anticipated return of Jeff Goldblum's Dr. Ian Malcom (a reprisal sure to draw out plenty of smiles from viewers) as he delivers a testimony during a hearing that will dictate the future of the dinosaurs. The self-professed "chaotician" will join forces with Owen and Claire on a mission to rescue Owen's beloved raptor Blue.

But their plan goes unexpectedly awry when the trio uncover something even more dangerous than the volcano: a conspiracy that would wipe out mankind entirely. "These creatures were here before us... and if we're not careful, they're going to be here after," Dr. Malcom warns in the footage.

Featuring Pratt's Owen running for his life, the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom trailer promises that the film will also be filled with more heart-stopping action than ever before–including one moment where hundreds and hundreds of the creatures come barreling down the slope of a cliff.

Take a look in the video above.

Directed by J.A. Bayona (A Monster Calls) and written by Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom also stars Justice Smith, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, Daniella Pineda, James Cromwell, BD Wong, Ted Levine, Geraldine Chaplin.

Here's the official synopsis: "It's been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles. When the island's dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who's still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times. With all of the wonder, adventure, and thrills synonymous with one of the most popular and successful series in cinema history, this all-new motion-picture event sees the return of favorite characters and dinosaurs–along with new breeds more awe-inspiring and terrifying than ever before."

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is due out in theaters on June 22, 2018.
