The Last Jedi Has A Location In Common With Game Of Thrones
Star Wars typically takes us to worlds we've never seen before. But there will be something familiar about one of the planets in The Last Jedi.
Lucasfilm released a new behind-the-scenes featurette and it confirms that scenes set in the casino city of Canto Bight on Cantonica were shot in the Croatian city of Dubrovnik. That's the same place that serves as King's Landing, the capital of Westeros on Game of Thrones.
However, as the "Worlds of The Last Jedi" video shows, Canto Bight won't look much like King's Landing. Although you might get a sense of deja vu on some of the streets, the actual casino of Canto Bight is otherworldly and modern.
In the video, director Rian Johnson shows off two other filming locations: the salt falts of Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia that serve as the new planet Crait, and the island Skellig Michael in Ireland, which is Ahch-To, where Rey (Daisy Ridley) discovered Luke (Mark Hamill) at the end of The Force Awakens.
Take a look at Dubrovnik as both Canto Bight and King's Landing below, the prepare for The Last Jedi to hit theaters on Dec. 15.
