The Punisher Renewed For Season 2 On Netflix
Just a few weeks after all those cryptic teasers finally gave way to The Punisher series on Netflix, we're already getting cryptic teasers for season 2.
Deadline reports Netflix renewed the Marvel series less than a month after the Nov. 17 debut of the show's 13-episode first season.
The series stars Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, a former military man who ruthlessly hunts down the criminals who murdered his family. Along the way, he descends further into the criminal underworld and wrapped up in what seems to be a far-reaching government conspiracy.
Bernthal first debuted as the character in the second season of Daredevil, which is gearing up for a season 3. So far, Marvel has a perfect record on Netflix: each of the standalone shows created for the streaming service were renewed for at least a second season. The ensemble The Defenders wasn't a huge hit, but the door is still open for another chapter.
The Punisher co-stars Daredevil's Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, along with Ben Barnes (Westworld) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Girls).
There's no word when we can expect the second season, but we'd wager we'll get new seasons of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist first.
