Here's Where You Can Watch 1997's Spawn Movie Online
"Spawn" fans just got a major update on the upcoming cinematic reboot. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trio of "Joker" co-writer Scott Silver, "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" creator Malcolm Spellman, and Matt Mixon will be penning the upcoming movie. Seeing this long-gestating reboot coming out of development hell is exciting for those who love the Image Comic's anti-hero. It's also certainly fueling a push into the character's past incarnations.
While some are pursuing the original comics, created by Todd McFarlane, others are no doubt rewatching the iconic HBO animated series. And some diehard fans are likely looking to revisit the 1997 live-action film. Titled "Spawn," the movie stars Michael Jai White as the titular antihero. He's not the only recognizable name among the cast, either, as the film also stars John Leguizamo, Martin Sheen, and Melinda Clarke. If you're curious about checking out the movie, here's where you can watch "Spawn" online.
Spawn 1997 is available for digital purchase or rental
Viewers hoping to find "Spawn" '97 on their favorite streaming services may be out of luck. As of October 2022, it is not available on any subscription service. While the film has previously appeared on HBO Max, it is not featured among its October 2022 titles. The service does have every episode of "Todd McFarlane's Spawn" in its collection, though. There's no word on whether the film might be added at another time but monthly lineup changes could see the film put back on at any point.
There are rental options that could help fans rewatch the original or even experience it for the first time. Google Play Movies and TV, Apple TV, Vudu, Amazon Prime Video, and YouTube all have the film available to rent or buy. Prices vary based on the service and could change at any time or without notice, but as of the time of writing, a rental will set you back $2.99, and purchasing the movie will cost between $4.99 and $9.99. Keep in mind that both Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video do not include the film as part of their subscription services — any "Spawn" '97 rental or purchase is separate from those fees.
