The Big Bang Theory Star Johnny Galecki's Hilarious Response To Melissa Rauch's Garbage-Picking Moment
Like any good sitcom, CBS's "The Big Bang Theory" is defined by the dysfunctional relationships between its main characters. Who can forget the hilarious and eccentric living arrangement between Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki), or the endearing bromance between Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) and Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar)?
Even most of the major couples within the series are absurdly funny in their own right, especially the relationship between Howard and Bernadette Rostenkowski (Melissa Rauch) — which began with Bernadette absolutely loathing Howard for his creepy behavior. Although nearly all of the characters within "The Big Bang Theory" seem to have a decent amount of chemistry together, it's worth noting that there are two particular characters who rarely ever interact: Leonard and Bernadette.
This is not to say that the two characters dislike each other, simply that Leonard and Bernadette are almost never seen together or paired up for a storyline — with the exception of the time they teamed up for a scavenger hunt and bickered through the entire ordeal. Although they may not have had much comedic chemistry on-screen, Rauch actually has a pretty hilarious anecdote about one of the first times she ever spoke with Galecki: when he caught her rummaging through a trash can.
Galecki caught Rauch in a sticky situation
In Chapter 9 of the recently released book "The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series," Melissa Rauch recalled an extremely awkward encounter she had with Johnny Galecki during her very first week of filming. Having accidentally thrown her meal ticket into the trash (and not knowing who to ask for another one), she decided to search for it by rummaging through the garbage — only for Galecki to pass by and ask, "You alright there? Just picking through our garbage?"
Rauch said that she was extremely embarrassed by the incident, despite Galecki's hilarious comments about the whole ordeal. Indeed, it appears that both Galecki and Rauch have distinct memories of this awkward encounter since Galecki also mentioned it when speaking about Rauch's addition to the series. "Melissa and I really hit it off," Galecki explained. "She's so quick and funny that I just immediately took to her, you know, outside of the trash can incident."
Although it's certainly quite funny to know that both Rauch and Galecki remember this embarrassing behind-the-scenes moment, Galecki went on to address how inspiring he found Rauch's performance, saying that her work ethic helped to motivate his own work on the series. Although they may not have shared many moments on-screen, it's clear that both Galecki and Rauch have some hilarious behind-the-scenes memories.
