Casual's Final Season Gets Summer Premiere Date
Hulu is going to get Casual again this summer. The streamer revealed at their stop on the Television Critics' Association's winter press tour that the fourth and final season of their dramedy Casual will hit the web on July 31. (via Deadline)
Casual stars Tommy Dewey and Michaela Watkins as two dysfunctional siblings who rely on each other as they deal with the trials and tribulations of adult life. The show also stars Tara Lynne Barr as the teenage daughter of Watkins' Valerie, Frances Conroy as Alex and Valerie's erstwhile mother Dawn, and Nyasha Hatendi as Leon, the best friend of Dewey's Alex. The third season ended on a cliffhanger, with Alex learning that he had accidentally gotten his tenant Rae (Maya Erskine) pregnant.
Casual was created by Zander Lehmann, with Liz Tigelaar also serving as showrunner and Jason Reitman working as a producer. The show was one of Hulu's earliest originals, premiering in October of 2015, and earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Television Series- Comedy or Musical in its first season. Unlike past seasons, the final season of the show is set to debut all at once as opposed to episode-by-episode, imitating Netflix's usual model.
Casual's last eight episodes arrive this summer.
