Mary Elizabeth Winstead Cast In Gemini Man
Gemini Man has found its leading lady.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Mary Elizabeth Winstead has been cast as the female lead in director Ang Lee's upcoming action-thriller pic Gemini Man. This news follows past reports that indicated Lee had meetings scheduled with Winstead, Orphan Black actress Tatiana Maslany, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Elizabeth Debicki for the role. By all accounts, it seems Winstead seriously impressed the filmmaker.
Winstead is set to play an operative who works in the same company as Will Smith's Henry, a middle-aged assassin yearning to find a way out of the business. Her character has been ordered to follow and observe Henry, but as his life grows increasingly more intense as he faces off against a clone of himself that's out to kill him, she eventually teams up with Henry. The actress also joins Clive Owen, who was recently confirmed to portray one of the film's villains, which THR notes as "the head of the cloning program."
From Paramount Pictures and Skydance Media, Gemini Man has Jerry Bruckheimer, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger on board as producers. Don Murphy and Chad Oman will executive produce the film.
Winstead's last film appearance was in the 2016 Dan Trachtenberg-directed 10 Cloverfield Lane. The actress recently starred as Nikki Swango in the third season of FX's hit black comedy crime drama series Fargo.
Gemini Man will hit theaters on October 4, 2019.
