Young Sheldon's Raegan Revord Calls Missy's Baseball Beatdown Her Favorite Moment From The Show

"The Big Bang Theory" bid farewell to the television scene in 2019 after 12 years on CBS, leaving behind an impressive small-screen legacy and pop culture impression that has yet to disappear. Thankfully for fans of the program, their only option for entertainment within that universe wouldn't be rewatching Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady's iconic sitcom. They could also check out "Young Sheldon" if they so pleased, which premiered in 2017. The program follows Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage, taking over for longtime Sheldon actor Jim Parsons) as he navigates his formative years in his small Texas hometown.

As "Young Sheldon" explores Sheldon's youth and explains some of the big mysteries lingering from "The Big Bang Theory," it also gives time to the wider Cooper clan. Aside from Sheldon's parents and his Meemaw (Annie Potts), the series dedicates plenty of screentime to his siblings. George "Georgie" Cooper Jr. (Montana Jordan) is his athletic yet far less brainy older brother, and Melissa "Missy" Cooper is his fraternal twin sister who's never afraid to give him grief for his actions. Raegan Revord plays Missy on "Young Sheldon," and for the most part, it seems like she's had a blast in the role.

Of all the scenes she's taken part in on "Young Sheldon," Revord's favorite is her fight at the baseball field. Here's why.

Revord found the baseball fight empowering

In the "Young Sheldon" Season 3 episode "Pongo Pygmaeus and a Culture that Encourages Spitting," Missy Cooper joins the local baseball team. Things turn sour when the opposing pitcher whips a fastball at her head while she's up to bat, prompting her to sprint toward him and deliver a beatdown in the middle of the baseball diamond. "I love how Missy stood up for herself," Raegan Revord said in an interview for the TBS YouTube channel. For that reason, and Meemaw's hilarious encouragement from the crowd while the fight happened, Revord considers this moment her absolute favorite.

Missy Cooper isn't someone to mess with, and Raegan Revord clearly adores that about her. Although, this is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of things about her "Young Sheldon" alter-ego that Revord appreciates. During a chat with Glitter in 2021, she explained, "I get to experience a lot of things through her, like what it is like to have siblings, grow up in a different era, go to middle school, play sports, and heartbreak...I am learning a lot from her." Revord adds that working on "Young Sheldon" has been an absolute delight and that she's hopeful some of her pitches for Missy-centric stories will come to fruition.

The titular child prodigy is the core of "Young Sheldon," but without his entertaining family members like Missy, the show wouldn't be nearly as fun to watch.
