Tom Cruise Is Back In Action In Mission: Impossible - Fallout Super Bowl Trailer
Ethan Hunt is back in action in the first full trailer for Mission: Impossible – Fallout. The sixth film in the franchise features Tom Cruise's Hunt racing to stop a nuclear terrorist attack that may call up some people from his questionable past.
The teaser features various characters in Ethan's life discussing the consequences of his actions. "Your mission, should you choose to accept it," a creepy voice intones at the start of the trailer. "I wonder, did you ever chose not to? The end you always feared is coming, and the blood will be on your hands. The fallout of all your good intentions."
Director Christopher McQuarrie teased in a recent interview with Empire that the movie will have a lot to do with the result of Ethan's past choices. "There's the notion that what's happened in the movie is the end result of choices that Ethan Hunt has made in his life," teased McQuarrie. "It's Ethan's past come back to haunt him."
The trailer also reveals a few of the film's new characters, including Henry Cavill's mustachioed action hero, who asks how many times Hunt's government has betrayed him. "How long before a man like that has had enough?" he questions of Angela Bassett's CIA director. Also featured in the trailer are returning cast members Alec Baldwin, Rebecca Ferguson, and Simon Pegg.
Production on Mission: Impossible – Fallout was put on hold after Cruise broke his ankle while performing a stunt on set. The movie reportedly didn't wrap filming until December, although McQuarrie still appears to be getting it ready in time for its initially planned summer release date.
Michelle Monaghan, Ving Rhames, Sian Brooke, Sean Harris, and Vanessa Kirby also star in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, which hits theaters on July 27.
