9-1-1 Fans Are Buzzing Over Buck's Sprinting In Season 6 Episode 7
Contains spoilers for "9-1-1" Season 6 Episode 7
Fox's "9-1-1" is ostensibly a first responder procedural, but whenever the series requires, it always has plenty of comedic talent at its disposal. Actors like Jennifer Love Hewitt (who plays Maddie Buckley), Connie Britton (Abby Clark), Peter Krause (Bobby Nash) and Kenneth Choi (Howard Han) have plenty of comedic roles in their acting CV. However, Oliver Stark, who plays Buck Buckley, has traditionally veered toward more action-oriented roles ... but he can still bring plenty of amusement when the situation so requires.
"9-1-1" Season 6 Episode 5, "Home Invasion," this exact thing happens — during Buck's hectic attempt to keep his promise and make it to his fertility clinic appointment, no less. As the character's car breaks down at an inopportune moment, he realizes that he has mere minutes to make it to the clinic, which is 1.8 miles away. Desperate to make it in time, he decides to cover the distance by running, and does precisely this ... much to the delight of viewers. Here's why "9-1-1" fans are buzzing over Buck's sprinting in Season 6, Episode 7.
Buck is not a graceful runner, and fans are loving it
As anyone who's seen the episode can tell, Buck is no Tom Cruise when it comes to running. Fast as he may be, the character is decidedly on the clumsy side when it comes to sprinting. He visibly struggles to keep his bulky frame at an adequate pace, grimacing and flailing his arms as he goes.
The combination of Buck's sprinting and adequately frantic soundtrack is a highly amusing one, and fans have taken notice. "THEY'RE SO REAL FOR GIVING US THIS," Twitter user @bluegreytan wrote about the show's decision to include the scene. "911 a comedy show for having buck run to the clinic like that," @marvelsbuck observed. "Why is watching buck run so funny," @parkerbuckley wondered.
Over on Reddit, viewers also heaped praise on Buck. "Bike scene and now run scene.. bucks really the comic relief this season," u/sopher0 wrote, alluding to an earlier moment of Buck-themed physical comedy. "Run Buck run!" u/Nataku81 cheered. "Omg he's running two miles to the clinic?" u/apollofox marveled as this exact thing happened.
Seeing as the fan base is apparently quite thrilled with these fun Buck moments, it remains to be seen whether "9-1-1" intends to include more of them in the future. If so, Stark certainly has demonstrated the ability to work with such scenes.
