Adam Sandler Throws A Budget Wedding In The Week Of Trailer
The wedding singer is now the father of the bride.
Netflix has released a trailer for The Week Of, its latest in a long string of collaborations with comedian Adam Sandler, this one also starring his Grown Ups co-conspirator Chris Rock. Take a look at the upcoming comedy feature for yourself up above.
The Week Of follows Sandler as a struggling middle-class father who wants to throw the wedding of a lifetime for his daughter. Unfortunately, neither time nor money are on his side. The trailer sees him struggling through the final week of preparations before the nuptials as he navigates his high-maintenance family and stretches every dollar to its breaking point. As one might expect, this last-minute approach leads to a thoroughly tacky production with a ramshackle look that's mildly embarrassing to everyone involved.
Rock, who recently released his stand-up special Tamborine on Netflix, stars opposite Sandler as the father of the groom, a hotshot surgeon whose wealth, the trailer implies, will ultimately save the day. Rachel Dratch stars as Sandler's wife, with Sandler movie mainstay Steve Buscemi also appearing as a clueless and unhelpful relative.
The Week Of was directed by Saturday Night Live writer and producer Robert Smigel, and written by Smigel and Sandler. It was shot on location in Long Island, NY, and also stars Rob Morgan, Scott Cohen, Melanie Nicholls-King, and Patricia Belcher.
The Week Of is the fourth movie to be produced by Sandler's Happy Madison Productions as a part of his Netflix deal, joining fellow exclusives The Ridiculous 6, The Do-Over, and Sandy Wexler on the service. The most recent of the movies, Sandy Wexler, was released last April. The new movie will premiere on Netflix on April 27.
