A Gilmore Girls Star Is Coming To The DC Universe

"Gilmore Girls" is one of those television shows that has definitely left an impression. Despite being placed in the same time slot as NBC's signature sitcom "Friends" in its premiere year, the fast-talking CW drama lived to tell the tale (via Today). In addition to surviving a showdown with such a popular show, "Gilmore Girls" thrived for seven seasons. It also earned itself a 2016 Netflix revival in the form of "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life."

In the time since the Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham-led series went off the air, the show's former home network has undergone a litany of changes. In fact, for a time, The CW was dominated by a variety of superhero series, a genre of television very different from that of "Gilmore Girls." Of course, given the fact that the reach of superhero culture now extends far beyond one network, it probably shouldn't be all that surprising that some corners of it intersect with those of "Gilmore Girls."

For example, the DC Universe is a realm for all things related to DC Comics. From movies like "Man of Steel" and "Justice League" to television shows like "Titans" and "Peacemaker," DC's world of villains, vigilantes, and superheroes continues to expand with more content, including some upcoming DC Universe movies that are going to blow everyone away. Though "Gilmore Girls" and the DCU are pretty far apart, even these worlds will soon collide, as a "Gilmore Girls" cast member is about to take on a role in the DC Universe.

Keiko Agena will be joining Doom Patrol in Season 4

Keiko Agena, the actress best known for playing Lane Kim in "Gilmore Girls," is set to join the DC Universe. Agena will appear in the fourth season of "Doom Patrol," news the actress revealed during an AMA on Reddit. She didn't mention what character she'll be playing when the new season premieres on HBO Max on December 8 (via Deadline), but that didn't seem to dampen the enthusiasm of her fans.

The Q&A between Reddit users and the performer took place on the r/GilmoreGirls subreddit, where Agena fielded many questions from eager fans throughout the thread who are just as excited about her new role on "Doom Patrol" as she is. "I love Doom Patrol! Can't wait to see you there!" said u/Inka_b. And u/TomatilloBeginning78 echoed the enthusiasm, saying: "Oh wow, that is a great show, can't wait to see you on that!!"

Since her time on "Gilmore Girls," Agena has stayed busy with roles on the Netflix drama "13 Reasons Why," AMC's "Breaking Bad" spin-off "Better Call Saul," and the Fox suspense thriller "Prodigal Son" (via IMDb). "Doom Patrol" follows the misadventures of a team of deeply traumatized heroes as they battle their inner demons and occasionally save the day. Among them are Robotman (Brendan Fraser/Riley Shanahan), Elastigirl (April Bowlby), Negative Man (Matt Bomer), and Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero).
