Nick Offerman Crowned Chris Pratt As Parks And Recreation's Funniest Cast Member
When it comes to funny cast members on "Parks and Recreation," there really is no shortage of options. One of the reasons the show worked so well was that it managed to find a chemistry between personalities who each managed to bring their own unique taste of humor without overshadowing others through its seven seasons.
What seems to be essential in these ensembles is a generosity and appreciation for the talents of the production's fellow cast members. Enter Nick Offerman, the actor who portrayed the lovable-but-surly Ron Swanson in "Parks and Recreation." While the character of Ron Swanson might have had a hard time showing off his appreciation or gratitude towards others, that wasn't true for the man who portrayed the staunch figure. In 2013, Offerman took to Reddit for an "Ask Me Anything" (AMA) discussion. There, among other questions, the actor was asked by SneakyOrange who he thought the funniest member of the "Parks and Recreation" cast was. Offerman replied that it was "[Chris] Pratt, easy."
Here's what Nick Offerman had to say about Chris Pratt being the funniest cast member along for the ride on "Parks and Recreation."
Nick Offerman called Chris Pratt a 'wildcard'
Nick Offerman provided a little more detail about why he felt Chris Pratt stole the show on "Parks and Recreation," not just for viewers but for the cast too. Offerman said, "Lots of mad talent in the ensemble, and Amy is in a league of her own, like the league of Tina and Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon, but Pratt has the wildcard flavor to make us all s*** little green apples."
Granted, the role of the dim-witted, big-hearted Andy Dwyer on "Parks and Recreation" cemented Pratt's TV prominence. But given his recent focus on action-adventure fares like the "Jurassic World" films and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it might be surprising for some fans to think of Pratt as the funniest member of an already hilarious cast.
What's more, though Pratt has shown that he can seamlessly transition between comedic actor and action star, the actor has demonstrated time and again that he's more than capable of blending the two styles when needed. Though a vital part of the action-oriented and story-driven MCU, the "Guardians of the Galaxy" films certainly avail themselves of the comics' outlaw sense of humor, as the recent Holiday special shows amply.
It would appear that, in the entertainment industry, talent recognizes, and Nick Offerman recognizes Chris Pratt for the funny, talented actor he is.
