Gal Gadot Gets The Buzz Going On Wonder Woman 3
Superheroes are all the rage. It's become an ongoing joke how Marvel Studios has complete control over the box office while DC forever plays catchup, but things could finally be changing. Now that Warner Bros. Discovery has officially created DC Studios with filmmaker James Gunn and producer Peter Safran at the helm, fans are excited to see what's in store for the superhero cinematic universe.
With the turn of the year, the studio shifts its focus to its jampacked 2023 release schedule. "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" releases in March, "The Flash" in June, "Blue Beetle" in August, and "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" wraps up the year in December. However, these projects began development before Gunn and Safran came on board, so their vision won't become a reality until after the release of "Aquaman."
No one but the new co-CEOs knows what's in store for DC moving forward, and with the shift in leadership, inevitably, some aspects of the DCEU won't make the transition. One character that hasn't had any recent updates is Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. The silence was deafening following the poor performance of "Wonder Woman 1984," but it looks like fans of the Amazonian princess can breathe a sigh of relief. Gadot recently reassured fans that there is more to come.
It looks like Gal Gadot will be Wonder Woman in the new DCU
It's hard to believe it's already been six years since Zack Snyder introduced Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." The Israeli actress has played the Amazonian princess in five feature-length films, including two solo outings.
Gal Gadot took to Instagram yesterday to celebrate the anniversary of her announcement as Wonder Woman for the DCEU, and she teased what's next for her character. "On this day, a few years ago, was the first announcement that I was going to play Wonder Woman," the actress said. "I've been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character and more than anything I'm grateful for YOU. The fans. The most amazing, warm, loving fans in the world. I'm still pinching myself to see if I will wake up. Can't wait to share her next chapter with you." From the looks of things, there are big plans in place for Gadot to continue playing the hero in the revamped DC Universe. If the tease at the end of the caption wasn't enough, DC co-CEO James Gunn liked the post, throwing more fuel on the fire.
It'll be interesting to see Gunn and Peter Safran's plans for Gadot and Wonder Woman. Warner Bros. announced "Wonder Woman 3" around the time of the sequel's release, but given the leadership change, things may be different now. If rumors are true, fans could see Gadot much sooner than expected in "Shazam! Fury of the Gods," but we won't know until March. Regardless, it looks like Wonder Woman's future is bright in the new DCU.
