Watch Tommy Wiseau's Incredibly Disturbing Joker Audition

Tommy Wiseau definitely has a specific style of acting, and it involves lots of screaming and mispronounced words.

About a month ago, the enigmatic writer, director, and star of the wonderfully horrible The Room asked Todd Phillips, director of the upcoming Joker origin movie, to contact him on Instagram. While Joaquin Phoenix is reportedly in talks to star in the film, Wiseau isn't backing down.

After achieving mainstream fame thanks to James Franco's The Disaster Artist and getting to walk onstage during the Golden Globes, Wiseau teamed with Nerdist to put together an audition tape to play the Clown Prince of Crime. He reads lines from both 1989's Batman and 2008's The Dark Knight, all with that thick "New Orleans" accent. (Wiseau is clearly from Eastern Europe, but he still won't say where.)

Of course, every Joker needs a Batman, and Wiseau turned to an old friend for the audition. The Room co-star Greg Sestero, who wrote the book that The Disaster Artist is based upon, dons the mask in the clip.

We'd say Wiseau is a long shot to star in Phillips' flick, but you can't deny that his loud, manic approach to the character is genuinely unsettling. It's not quite as disturbing as the love scenes in The Room, but it's horrifying in a different way. Still, Wiseau and the Joker do have a lot in common. They both created their empires on their own, they don't care about what society expects of them, and they both laugh at inappropriate moments. And we'd love to hear the Joker say, "Oh hi, Batman."

Meanwhile, The Disaster Artist is out on Blu-ray on March 13.
