Josh Gad And Kristen Bell To Star In Animated Series From Bob's Burgers Creator

The first animated series for Apple will be a Frozen reunion. Well, kind of.

Variety reports that Apple has ordered two seasons of a new animated comedy-musical series called Central Park from Loren Bouchard, the creator of the Emmy-winning Bob's Burgers. Josh Gad (Pixels, Beauty and the Beast) serves as a co-writer and will star on the show along with his Frozen co-star Kristen Bell.

Central Park follows a family of caretakers who live and work in Central Park. While they try to save the park, they basically save the world.

The show's impressive voice cast also includes Leslie Odom Jr. (Red Tails), Titus Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Stanley Tucci (The Hunger Games), Daveed Diggs (Wonder), and Kathryn Hahn (Step Brothers).

The series was developed at 20th Century Fox, where Borchard is based with Bob's Burgers. But when the studio's sibling network passed on the Central Park, it prompted a heated bidding war among streamers Apple, Netflix, and Hulu.

It'll be the first animated series for Apple, which recently gave another two-season order to a morning show drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. Other shows in the works include a drama from La La Land director Damian Chazelle, a reboot of Steven Spielberg's anthology series Amazing Stories, and an untitled space-race drama from Battlestar Galactica showrunner Ronald D. Moore.

Meanwhile, Fox recently ordered a pilot for Lil Kev, an animated series based on the comedy of Kevin Hart.
