Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Gives Us A Whole Host Of First Looks With Stunning Concept Art
"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" blew up what a modern animated film could be when it was released back in 2018. With its flashy mash-up of styles, genres, and characters, the celebration of all things Spidey wasn't just a love letter to fans of the beloved superhero, but it was also the best animated film of the year (via The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences).
Now, at last, fans have "The Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse" trailer, and audiences are already getting hyped for what promises to be the first of two parts (via Digital Spy). However, one of the biggest surprises of the new footage is just how many Spider-Folks are popping up in the trailer.
While there are some blink-and-you-miss-it cameos, as well as plenty of small details to miss, all over the new teaser for "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," some concept art has come along to give viewers a closer look at what to expect from some of the new characters making their silver screen debut in the sequel.
The concept art offers a clearer look at some new characters
On Twitter, @DiscussingFilm shared some vibrant concept art of three new characters who will be popping up in "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," and they look to be very faithful and loving recreations of some of the more fringe iterations of Marvel's many "Spider-Man" characters.
First up is Spider-Punk, a.k.a. Hobie Brown, who will be voiced by Daniel Kaluuya in the sequel. The art shows the spiky Spidey shredding his guitar bombastically and sporting his trendy suit, which looks to be a mash-up of traditional Spider-Man elements with some punk-rock paraphernalia to mix it up.
Spider-Man India, a.k.a. Pavitr Prabhakar, is next, with a suit design that allows his long black hair to flow freely from the top of his mask. His suit has some distinct elements that pay homage to his culture and will further the already fantastic representation in "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse."
Finally, fans also get a glimpse of Mayday. The sweet little bundle of joy is Peter B. Parker's (Jake Johnson) new daughter in the upcoming sequel, showing that he made things right with his world's version of M.J. Fans can look forward to meeting these three new characters and many more when "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" premieres on June 1st, 2023.
