Who Plays Tsireya In Avatar: The Way Of Water?
Some say that family is one of the most important reasons for living, and that isn't any different when you are on an alien planet ... in an alien body ... with an alien girlfriend and kids. Joking aside, "Avatar: The Way of Water" picks up over a decade after the events of the first film and still follows Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana). Having started a family, trouble begins to brew once again on Pandora, and Jake journeys out into the world to rally support from the other Na'vi tribes. Although Jake and Neytiri's tribe spends most of their time in the beautifully illuminated forests of Pandora, there is another tribe that makes their home on the coast and among the water.
Called the Metkayina, this clan of Na'vi is far more comfortable swimming through the vibrant reefs of Pandora and is led by Ronal (Kate Winslet) and Tonowari (Cliff Curtis). Pragmatic and deeply respectful, as most Na'vi are, the Metkayina generally live peaceful lives and enjoy diving deep into the waters in search of resources and adventure. Some of the most prolific Metkayina characters, besides Ronal and Tonowari, are their children, Aonung (Filip Geljo) and Tsireya (Bailey Bass). Despite mainly being a creation of CGI, the actor who plays Tsireya, often just called "Reya" in the film, is relatively new to the professional world of entertainment, though she has at least one notable acting credit that should make her easy to recognize.
Bailey Bass is immediately recognizable as a young vampire in a recent AMC show
Although hidden between layers of impressive computer-generated imagery, Bailey Bass has a fairly distinctive look. According to IMDb, Bass has only six acting credits thus far, starting in 2014 with the film "Moon and Sun." Her next acting endeavor came several years later, in 2020, with a single appearance in "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," where she plays Breyona Taylor. Then, in 2021, the movie "The Jenkins Family Christmas, and a year later, she popped up in the TV movie "Psycho Sweet 16." However, probably the most iconic role in Bass' life has been that of a vampire in AMC's 2022 television series, "Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire."
Based on the famous book that started an entire literary franchise, "Interview with the Vampire" recounts the life of Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson), a former brothel owner turned vampire. His maker, Lestat (Sam Reid), appears to be both tender and arrogant at the same time, and Lestat enjoys toying with humans before feeding on them, much to the chagrin of Louis, who doesn't generally enjoy killing. Bass plays the role of Claudia in this show, and she acts as a vampiric daughter of Lestat and Louis, though she certainly has no qualms about killing and feeding, going so far as to almost be more callous towards life than Lestat. Both Lestat and Claudia love Lestat, which leads to some very jealous animosity between the two, which is certainly a far cry from Bailey's character in "Avatar: The Way of Water." Chances are we will be seeing more of her in potential future "Avatar" installments, as well as the next season of "Interview with the Vampire."
