Loki Cast Promises An Even Wilder And Wackier Season 2
The last fans saw of the main characters of "Loki," they all had vastly different paths they were embarking on. Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) is out somewhere in the Multiverse and determined to find free-will. Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) is lost and confused, having finally fulfilled her mission of finding and killing He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors). Meanwhile, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is trying to figure out what has changed in the Multiverse now that He Who Remains is gone, and he is back with the Time Variance Authority (TVA); however, Mobius (Owen Wilson) has no idea who Loki is anymore, or what they've been through together. Basically, Season 1 left fans with even more questions.
Kevin Feige has said that "Loki” is Disney+'s most-watched Marvel series as of May 2022, and thanks to the strong story and incredible actors, the reason why is clear (via Deadline). While some fans were fuming with the Loki/Sylvie romance subplot, there was more than enough action, drama, and mischief to make up for it. Now that 2023 is getting closer, some members of the cast are carefully divulging clues about the wild and wacky upcoming "Loki" Season 2.
Season 2 promises to answer fans' questions
While audience can't expect any actors to divulge too many details around their MCU projects due to the extreme secrecy Marvel demands, Gugu Mbatha-Raw recently gave some hints. "[Fans] are gonna be in for a real treat because the show is bolder and more surreal," Mbatha-Raw told Entertainment Tonight about Season 2. "In many ways, [Season 2] goes to some bigger, bolder places than Season 1, which is really exciting." She then described Ravonna as "a powerful presence" now that she is out of the TVA.
Meanwhile in September, some of the cast took a break from filming to attend Disney's D23 convention, where "Loki" fans got to see some of the first footage from Season 2. "Season 2 picks up where Season 1 left off," Tom Hiddleston told the crowd. "Loki is back in the Time Variance Authority ... and Mobius and Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) don't seem to know who he is." At this, Owen Wilson joked that "it's a little bit like that Talking Heads song 'This Is Not My Beautiful Life,' where you're sort of like, 'how did I get here' ... and in Season 2 we're going to answer it, 'How did I get here?'"
While none of this really keys fans into what the plot will be, it is known that many characters are trying to figure out who they are, where they come from, and what the future holds. It sounds like Season 2 will be a fun ride.
