New Agents Of SHIELD Trailer Teases The Destroyer Of Worlds
Contains spoilers for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5
On Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., it's anyone's guess who the real Destroyer of Worlds is. But on the series' next episode, the mystery just might be revealed, as Daisy (Chloe Bennet) and Ruby (Dove Cameron) both stand on the cusp of their destinies.
ABC released a new promo trailer for the impending episode (season 5, episode 16) entitled "Inside Voices," teasing that real identity of the Destroyer of Worlds might be revealed soon.
In the 30-second clip, Ruby says that she's spent her whole life training to become one thing, then declares that she is the Destroyer of Worlds. But Daisy's the one who first gained that moniker during the first half of season 5, when Team S.H.I.E.L.D. was stuck in a dystopian future. While trapped in that timeline, the Agents discovered that Daisy's powers caused the Earth to crack — not exactly what the Inhuman hero hoped she'd be known for.
The Agents are now operating in the present day again, desperately trying to right any wrongs they can to prevent the devastating future from arriving, and in the most recent episode, "Rise and Shine," the "Destroyer of Worlds" name cropped up again. Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) learned that Hydra's new project, which just might be the terrorist-criminal-paramilitary organization's most wicked and depraved one yet, is called "Destroyer of Worlds."
Ruby's self-appointment as the Destroyer of Worlds throws a wrench in our understanding of who might actually earn the title in the end. General Hale (Catherine Dent) conceived Ruby through artificial insemination so her child would become the Destroyer, and Ruby seems to have lived up to expectations ... for the most part. She's ruthless and skilled in combat, but she's also rebellious, seen making her own off-books decisions and even cooking up plans with Werner von Strucker (Spencer Treat Clark) to work against her mother. Things got even more complicated when, in a previous episode, Ruby revealed to Hale that she told Strucker "the truth."
This new promo suggests that Ruby will begin carrying out her plan, and that fans will learn if she's the true Destroyer of Worlds sooner rather than later.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. also stars Ming-Na Wen as Melinda May, Iain De Caestecker as Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Jemma Simmons, Henry Simmons as Alphonso "Mack" MacKenzie, and Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez, who received a set of robotic arms in a recent episode.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. currently airs Fridays at 9 PM on ABC.
