That '90s Show Fans Are Having A Hard Time Believing This Detail About Jackie And Kelso
In the intervening years since the divisive finale of "That '70s Show," many questions demand answers. Do Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna (Laura Prepon) make it work after his return from Africa? Will we ever see Donna's trademark red hair again? Does Jackie's (Mila Kunis) romantic resolution even make sense? Luckily, viewers have finally received catharsis with Netflix's sequel, "That '90s Show." Set 15 years after the final episode of "That '70s Show," the series follows Donna and Eric's teenage daughter Leia (Callie Haverda) as she visits her grandparents for the summer.
Clearly, Eric and Donna reconciled in holy matrimony, and the "That '90s Show" trailer has already teased some major cameos. But one of the biggest questions that has loomed over the series is who exactly is Jackie supposed to be with? Fans never really understood Fez (Wilmer Valderrama) and Jackie ending up together, and "That '90s Show" went to task rectifying that. Though Kelso (Ashton Kutcher) proposes to Jackie in the original series only for her to reject him, their marriage(s) aren't the detail that fans are struggling with when they see the two together in the first episode.
How have the legacy kids never met each other?
As anyone who has experienced the painful years of high school knows, it is common to lose touch with friends from your teenage years. Especially in a small community such as Point Place, Wisconsin, many characters have left to find their own way. But even Eric and Donna's relocation to Chicago doesn't explain why the Formans and the Kelsos have seemingly not spoken to each other in the past decade. In the pilot of "That '90s Show," Jackie and Kelso's spawn Jay (Mace Coronel) meets Leia for the very first time, causing many fans to question this logic.
"Why am I supposed to believe Eric & Donna's daughter has never met Jackie & Kelso's son, when Jackie & Kelso still come over to the Formans like it's nothing???" wondered @ItsKimOlson on Twitter. "You'd think they'd at least met in passing at a holiday or birthday party." Redditors also jumped on the bandwagon. Not only was this detail confusing logistically, but left fans feeling cold.
"Annoyed that they played off that Kelso and Jackie never kept in touch with the Forman's," posted u/BigJerry98. U/saturnsoda was quick to agree, saying: "[I] find it hard to believe that they wouldn't be regulars at the foremans' house if they're already living in point place." Chicago isn't that far away and it seems that the group that was once so close would introduce their children at least once, even by accident.
