The Boys Season 4 Teasers Promise A Chilling Next Chapter On The Back Of Homelander's Horrific Actions
A world filled with superheroes of varying and fantastic powers sounds like an interesting world to live in. Just think what a figure like Superman could accomplish, or if well-stocked and well-funded individuals would be able to stalk the night and dispense justice on those that would prey on the weak and innocent. Of course, the major elephant in the room is that people are ultimately people, and even those associated with a term like 'hero' are just as fallible as the rest of us. If anything, perhaps Lord Acton was right when he wrote, "Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority; still more when you superadd the tendency of the certainty of corruption by authority."
Nothing probably represents this concept as well as Amazon's "The Boys." Based on the comic series of the same name, "The Boys" follows a rag-tag group led by Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) as they deal with powerful and corrupt heroes. This group has some major issues with superheroes, and they often behave as an extra-judicial force that has no issues with extreme violence when a superhero gets out of line — which tends to happen more than the public might realize.
Season 3 ended with Homelander (Antony Starr) revealing his son Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) to the public after a battle that nearly sees Homelander killed. Although a crowd gathers and heaps praise upon Homelander, one person throws something at Ryan, which causes Homelander to unleash a deadly optic blast. At first, the crowd is shocked, but then they soon begin to cheer for the flagship superhero of Vought. Considering the bevy of Season 4 teasers, "The Boys" is going to get even more brutal.
It appears as if Homelander has gotten away scot-free after the ending of Season 3
One of the most interesting aspects of "The Boys" is that the show tends to release lots of teasers and clips that are set in the universe, which is highlighted by the news program "Seven on Seven," trailers for fictional movies, and even superhero-led music videos that can be found on the Vought International account on YouTube. Recently, a new clip was released on both YouTube and Instagram that has Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie) doing her very best to paint a positive light on Vought International, saying that all of their key approval metrics are trending upwards. This is very surprising, knowing that an entire crowd of people watched Homelander explode somebody's skull. This means that either Vought International was able to spin or obfuscate this event, or perhaps the general public is okay with this outburst of anger from the vaunted Homelander.
In addition to Homelander still appearing to be exceptionally important to Vought International's plans, the lead VFX artist that works on "The Boys," Stephan Fleet, recently took to Twitter to express their thoughts on the upcoming Season 4. Fleet tweeted, "I think I just saw the most disgusting thing I have seen working in this business thus far." Again, this is a very bold statement coming from a show that has featured ... well, nothing that can really be written here and be considered PG-13.
Joking aside, Season 4 of "The Boys" will more than likely see Homelander become even more erratic, and it will be interesting to see what Butcher and his "Boys" are able to come up with to at least stifle the power of Vought International and their retinue of corporate "heroes."
