Dave Grohl Warms Up For Crown Royal's Super Bowl Commercials In These Teasers
Dave Grohl may have made his name as a rock star, having been the drummer for the legendary grunge band Nirvana and then the guitarist and lead singer for the Foo Fighters, but he also has a surprising number of acting credits to his name. Not only has he played himself in productions like "Bill & Ted Face the Music" and the short-lived "Muppets" series, but he has also stretched his talent to play fictional characters as well. He appeared as Satan in "Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny" and was featured in a couple of different small roles on "Drunk History." He played a highly fictionalized version of himself again in his biggest screen role to date in the horror comedy film "Studio 666."
Suffice it to say, Grohl is no stranger to getting in front of the camera. In fact, his next acting role is coming up soon, as he's slated to appear in a big Super Bowl commercial for Canadian whisky brand Crown Royal. It's such an event that the ad even has teasers.
Crown Royal is getting the best, the best, the best of Dave Grohl
Two teasers have come out for the upcoming ad spot that Dave Grohl will be doing for Crown Royal during Super Bowl LVII on February 12th, and they're pretty cryptic. In one of the teasers, Grohl is seen at a microphone recording himself saying "Thank you" repeatedly. The description on YouTube reads: "2 little words. A whole lot of meaning. A thank you of epic, Grohl-sized proportions is right around the corner." In the other teaser, Grohl is given a piece of paper and reads off a list of random items with an attitude of incredulity at each one. The list of items includes an egg carton, Hawaiian pizza, electric wheelchairs, and a number of other seemingly unrelated objects. The description on this teaser reads: "Dave just found out what these objects have in common. Tune in to the big game on 2.12.23 to find out too..."
The two short videos couldn't possibly be more confusing. What do an electric wheelchair, a Hawaiian pizza, and an egg carton have in common? And what does that have to do with Grohl being so thankful? Some of the fans in the response section of the video think that they figured it out: YouTube user robertjamesuf thinks it's a list of Canadian inventions. Still, nobody seems to have any guesses about what the rock legend is thankful for. Is he perhaps thanking Canada? All will be revealed when the commercial drops on Super Bowl Sunday.
