GOTG3's Super Bowl Trailer Gives Us Our Best Look At Adam Warlock (& It Doesn't Look Good For Him)
There's a lot to look forward to in the upcoming conclusion of James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy" trilogy. With the talented director taking his unique view over to the competing DC Universe, he has the challenge of possibly ending the character arc of either one or all of the characters we have come to know and love. While we know that Dave Bautista is all but finished as Drax, it isn't farfetched to think that the Guardians lineup we got in the Infinity Saga is finished.
One of the ways Gunn elected to bring his trilogy to a close is to introduce one of the most powerful Marvel characters, setting him up to take the reigns as the cosmic character of the future. Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) has been one of the more anticipated characters of the post-Thanos MCU, and while we have seen small teases of him before, the new trailer (watch it here) gives us our best look yet. Of course, there is some evidence that he has a rough road ahead.
He is in the Guardians' crosshairs
Way back in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2," James Gunn and his group teased the Sovereign's cocoon. In true Guardians' style, the ragtag group of misfits angered as many people as they could throughout the film. However, the one they upset the most was Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki), and she hinted at her retribution in a post-credit scene, showing Adam Warlock's cocoon. In the new trailer, we get to see the full-grown character go head-to-head with our loveable team of a-holes.
There are some far-reaching implications to what we see teased in the trailer. For instance, it seems that Warlock will be the weapon the Sovereign uses, pitting him against the Guardians of the Galaxy. In the trailer, our best look at Will Poulter's character has him picking himself up off the ground and then battling Drax. There are two complicated outcomes possible when he goes toe-to-toe with Drax. First, he loses and finds himself in a life-or-death scenario. The second is that he wins and finds himself on the receiving end of the rest of the team's wrath.
With Dave Bautista nearly finished with his Marvel role, we could see some poignant moments in the new film.
