Ghosts Star Asher Grodman's Role Prompted Him To Reject Pants In Real Life
Based on the British television series of the same name, CBS's up-and-coming sitcom "Ghosts" follows the married couple of Samantha and Jay Arondekar (Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar, respectively), who move into a mansion previously owned by one of Samantha's mysterious relatives. Having been pronounced dead for three minutes during a near-death experience, Samantha returns to life with the ability to see and communicate with ghosts — an ability which comes in handy, since the house they've just moved into is swarming with the ghosts of previous occupants.
There are a plethora of eccentric and unique ghosts who inhabit the Arondekars' new mansion, including Captain Isaac Higgintoot (Brandon Scott Jones) — a soldier from the Revolutionary War whose death by dysentery causes a disgusting smell to follow him everywhere — and the dead singer Alberta Haynes (Danielle Pinnock), whose voice can inexplicably interact with Alexa devices. One of the more outlandish spirits floating around the manor is that of Trevor Lefkowitz (Asher Grodman), a former Wall Street investor whose extreme partying led to an accidental overdose, which unfortunately occurred while he was not wearing pants.
As such, Trevor is forced to spend the rest of eternity wearing the top half of a suit and nothing else — something which actor Asher Grodman says has had a real-life effect on his own wardrobe habits.
Grodman once took his pants off in the middle of a store
While some people might have nightmares about being seen in public without pants, it seems that it's something Asher Grodman is comfortable with by this point, given that he spends so much time pants-less while working around other people on set. And when you're used to that default level of (un)dress, it doesn't always register as something unusual in another environment. While speaking to TV Insider about the Season 2 Halloween episode of "Ghosts," Grodman recalled a hilarious incident in which he fully removed his pants in the middle of a store, having become so accustomed to the routine due to his time playing Trevor Lefkowitz.
"I was actually buying these pants, and I was like, 'Oh, I want to try those on,'" said Grodman. "In the middle of the store, I just took my pants off to try them on." Grodman clarified that he did actually get his pants off the entire way before realizing his mistake, joking that the lesson from this entire experience was, "Don't take work home with you."
While removing his pants in the middle of a clothing store may not have been Grodman taking method acting to the extreme, perhaps this is a sign that he's becoming a bit too comfortable playing a pants-less ghost on television. In any case, working every day on set without pants on has clearly made an impact on Grodman's wardrobe — though maybe he'll make it to the fitting room next time before he disrobes in broad daylight.
