Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Featurette Spotlights Film's Epic Dinos
In the now-shut down Jurassic World, every day was about celebrating dinosaurs. For us in the real world, National Dinosaur Day only comes once a year, on May 15. To commemorate the annual holiday, Universal Pictures has shared with us an exclusive Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom featurette that puts the spotlight on some of the gorgeous, enormous creatures seen in the flick.
Chris Pratt, who portrays Owen Grady in the upcoming sequel, opens the footage by saying, "Be careful. There's dinosaurs everywhere. And they're flippin' out and killin' people." Director J.A. Bayona chimed in to explain that because Fallen Kingdom features so many dinosaurs, the creatives had to make the frame bigger. Producer Pat Crawley promised that fans will see more dinosaurs in Fallen Kingdom than they've ever seen in "all the other Jurassic movies combined."
What kind of dinos can they expect, exactly? Well, fan-favorite raptor Blue will make a return, the mammoth Mosasaurus (the monster shown swimming through a wave in the sequel's trailers) and the T. Rex are guaranteed to stomp their feet in the film, and the Baryonyx and the Carnotaurus will gnash their teeth and cause some serious trouble. Bryce Dallas Howard, the actress who plays Claire Dearing, noted in the featurette that "the Carnotaurus fights the Sinoceratops."
Of course, those few creatures aren't the only ones viewers will spot in the film. There's also the Indoraptor, the "psychopathic, murderous beast" that presents the biggest challenge for the characters in Fallen Kingdom.

The latest trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom teased a rescue mission that spirals into out-and-out chaos, and the film's official synopsis reveals even more high-stakes adventures ahead: "It's been three years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles. When the island's dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who's still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times. With all of the wonder, adventure, and thrills synonymous with one of the most popular and successful series in cinema history, this all-new motion-picture event sees the return of favorite characters and dinosaurs–along with new breeds more awe-inspiring and terrifying than ever before."
Joining Pratt and Dallas Howard in the Jurassic World sequel are B. D. Wong as Dr. Henry Wu, James Cromwell as Benjamin Lockwood, Ted Levine as Ken Wheatley, and Daniella Pineda as Zia Rodriguez. Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, Isabella Sermon, Kevin Layne, and Geraldine Chaplin top off the cast. And of course, everyone's favorite suave scientist Dr. Ian Malcolm, played by Jeff Goldblum, makes a cameo appearance in the film as well.
Colin Trevorrow, original Jurassic World film director, penned the script for Fallen Kingdom with his writing partner Derek Connolly.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will roar in theaters on June 22.
